Dachshunds are a little dog that are fantastic pets. I have two of them myself and they are very sweet dogs. They also originated in Germany just like the German Shepherd. They are breed to hunt badgers because they are so low to the ground and they can get into holes in the ground. The name Dachshund in German actually translates to "Badger Dog."
